About Us

Global Economic Foundation (GEF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Chantilly, Virginia, the United States of America.

GEF was established with an aim to help and create a sustainable life for all the needy people, refugees, asylums, and low-income immigrants. The foundation is dedicated to bringing new approaches to solve deep-rooted socio-economic problems.

GEF is a network of self-motivated people dedicated to help the poor, marginalized and needy people living in the DC Metro Area and globally as well. The network comprises immigrants from about a dozen countries including India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Japan, Mongolia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Iran, among other countries.

GEF has established two wings to help people in the DC Metro Area and abroad.

The GEF DC Metro wing has four major programs: One-Stop Center for Immigrants, Micro-Finance for Start-up, Well-being Services, and Business Development Services.

The GEF Abroad wing will seek to create a world of hope, tolerance and social justice where poverty has been overcome and all people live with dignity and security.

Our Goals

GEF works around the globe to save lives, defeat poverty and achieve social justice.

We pursue this mission through an integrated and holistic commitment to:

  • Transformational development that is community-based and sustainable, and focused especially on the needs of immigrants and needy people.
  • Promotion of justice that seeks to change unjust structures affecting the poor among whom we work.
  • Partnerships with other organizations or donors to contribute to spiritual and social transformation.

Our Focus

We put immigrants, women and girls at the center of what we are doing because we know that we cannot overcome poverty until all people have equal rights and opportunities.

Our Principle

GEF follows a set of Programming Principles for emergency and long-term development works. The principles are aligned with those of many other agencies, and include:

  • Promoting empowerment.
  • Working in partnership with others.
  • Ensuring accountability and promoting responsibility.
  • Addressing discrimination.
  • Seeking sustainable results.
